About Lessons

Lessons for non-college students, from 5 years to adult, are given at Sherwood Conservatory. From 1/2 hr. to 1 hr. in length. Many performance opportunities available through Chicago Area Music Teachers Assn (CAMTA) and the school. A classical approach is used including technique and theory. Books vary according to the need of the student.

Performer

Soloist throughout the Chicagoland area.

Contestant, Rockefeller American Music Contest, St. Louis.
Finalist, Gottschalk contest, New Orleans.
Two time contest winner and performer, Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Member, Lakeside Piano Duo and Piano a la Quartet.


Performed at the Harold Washington Library; University of Illinois, Champaign Campus; Columbia College; many suburban libraries; private fundraisers; lst night (New Year's Eve) Evanston; Gold Ball Room, Congress Hotel, etc. Also performed as accompanist.

Credentials

Bette Coulson earned the degree of M.M. at American Conservatory of Music, Chicago Conservatory College plus additional studies at Interlochen, Michigan University and Northwestern University. She is a former piano pedagogy instructor at Northeastern University and current faculty member at Columbia College and Sherwood Conservatory of Music.

She holds permanent professional certificate from Music Teachers National Association (MTNA).

Mrs. Coulson was honored May, 2000 at Sherwood Conservatory at a fund raiser. Her students donated $1,000 to have 2 bricks engraved with her name to be permanently placed in the entrance hall.
