Requirements:
Teacher must be a member of CAMTA
No student age or grade requirements.
No requirements concerning form, style, length of composition, or selection of instruments.
Compositions must be in the student's own handwriting
or in the form of a computer print-out personally produced by the composer.
Honors Recital: May 17, 2008
The judge will select compositions to be performed that represent a range of ages and styles.
Application includes:
1. The CAMTA Composition Festival application form.
2. TWO clear photocopies of each manuscript (measures numbered). Place the name of the piece, composer's age, and level on the manuscript. THE COMPOSER'S NAME MUST NOT BE ON THE MANUSCRIPT OR TAPE.
3. ONE quality cassette tape or CD with composer playing the composition. PLACE THE NAME OF THE COMPOSITION ON THE SPINE OF EACH RECORDING (Only one composition per recording). All recordings and 1 copy of the manuscript will be returned.
4. Fee: $20.00 per manuscript (only one check per teacher made payable to "CAMTA".)
All students will receive a Certificate of Participation. Judge will select a winner and honorable mentions in each level. Winners are encouraged to enter their compositions in the MTNA composition contest (deadline in September) and are eligible for reimbursement of half the entry fee for that contest through CAMTA.
